Fill a line. Feed the hippo.

A calm block puzzle in an African swamp, with no timer. Three pieces at a time, a goal for every level, and a hippo who only eats while you tap him.

  • 999 levels, each one checked before it ships: always beatable, never a dead end you could not see
  • Melons, logs, bombs, mud and boulders, then something new every hundred levels, up to crocodiles and golden melons
  • Classic mode: no levels, no goal, pieces until nothing fits

How to play

Three pieces. An eight by eight board.

That is the whole rule. What grows is the board: melons, logs, bombs, mud and boulders turn up as you go.

    Drag a piece

    Drop one of the three where every square lands on an empty cell. A full row or a full column clears.

    Feed the hippo

    Throw him a melon and tap him: he only eats while you tap. Clear lines move after move and he powers up. Tap him then and he hits the board: the lowest row clears.

    Reach the goal

    A score, every melon or a number of lines, before the moves run out. Within two moves of par is three stars. Or play Classic, until nothing fits.

The chill zone

Then everybody wallows.

Between levels the hippos rest in the swamp, their home in Animal Kingdom. Now and then one sinks under and blows bubbles. Nobody minds.

Melons and bananas

Drag a melon from the crate to a hippo and it eats, faster if you tap. Drop one in the water and somebody may sink under and come up eating it. The crate fills with six melons every day. The monkeys catch the bananas you throw.

The Swamp Shop

It sells hats and things (a sun hat, a flower crown, a crown, sunglasses, a snorkel, a duck float), things for the swamp (a flamingo float, a paper lantern, a mud slide the hippos ride down, a rain cloud, a waterfall, a canoe) and more melons. Or adopt another hippo and give it a name.

A bigger swamp

Buy the swamp bigger, twice, and everyone draws smaller with room for more. Across the creek waits the east swamp, a second swamp you swipe to. The hippos cross on a fallen log, and the east swamp has things of its own to buy, up to an elephant that takes a shower. The grand prize is the Golden Mega Melon: nobody can eat it, everybody tries. When your phone switches to dark mode, night falls on the swamp.
